چکیده

Abstract Foam-formed cellulose biocomposites are a promising technology for developing lightweight and sustainable packaging materials. In this work, we produce characterize biocomposite foams based on methylcellulose (MC), fibers (CF), lignin (LN). The results indicate that adding organosolv to foam prepared using MC CF moderately increases Young’s modulus, protects the from growth of Escherichia coli bacteria, improves hydrophobicity surface. This article concludes enhances many properties required in applications such as insulation, packaging, cushioning. optimization composition offers research directions toward upscaling material solution industrial scale. BIOCOMPOSITES BASED ON CORE-SHELL CELLULOSE NANOFIBERS Preparation, Structure and Properties

Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) are of interest as load-bearing components for polymer matrix nanocomposites. A wide range of nanostructured materials including nanopaper/films, foams, aerogels, and hydrogels can be prepared from CNFs. The material performance can be fine-tuned when CNFs are combined with different polymer matrices. The main idea of the present study is to test the hypothesis that ...

Development of Biocomposites with Antioxidant Activity Based on Red Onion Extract and Acetate Cellulose.

Antioxidant biocomposites have been successfully developed from cellulose acetate, eco-friendly triethyl citrate plasticizer and onion extract as a source of natural antioxidants. First, an onion extraction process was optimized to obtain the extract with highest antioxidant power. Extracts under absolute ethanol and ethanol 85% were the extracts with the highest antioxidant activity, which wer...

Nanofiber networks, aerogels and biocomposites based on nanofibrillated cellulose from wood

Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) from wood is an interesting material constituent of high strength and high aspect ratio, which easily forms networks through interfibril secondary bonding including hydrogen bonds. This has been exploited in preparation of new materials, which extend the range of properties for existing cellulosic materials. The objective is to explore processing-structure and st...

Cellulose–Hemicellulose and Cellulose–Lignin Interactions during Fast Pyrolysis

Previously, the primary product distribution resulting from fast pyrolysis of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin was quantified. This study extends the analysis to the examinations of interactions between cellulose−hemicellulose and cellulose−lignin, which were determined by comparing the pyrolysis products from their native mixture, physical mixture, and superposition of individual component...

Mechanical and Morphological Properties of Kenaf Cellulose/LDPE Biocomposites

The possibility of using cellulose from the cell walls of kenaf, an annual herbaceous crop, for the production of bicomposites was investigated in this study. The composites were prepared using LDPE, as a matrix, the extracted cellulose, as filler and PEG as a plasticizer. The characterization of biocomposites was then performed with optimized thermo-mechanical properties and propensity to envi...
